Background
I am a fashion designer, educator, and researcher working across sustainable design, natural dyeing, and display design. I hold a B.A. (Hons.) in Interior Design from the University of the Arts London, where I majored in Creative Display for Fashion Retail at Central Saint Martins College of Arts & Design, and an M.S. in Apparel and Textiles from Kansas State University.
Early in my career, I worked as a Junior Interior Architect at a leading retail design firm in London — but I quickly realized architecture felt far too serious for the kind of creative work I wanted to do. That realization pulled me back toward fashion and display design, a field I'd dreamed of pursuing since childhood, and over the years I've had the opportunity to design for brands including Ralph Lauren London, Dilly & Carlo, and ODEL in Sri Lanka.
Practice & Research
Today, my work centers on sustainability. I research natural dyeing techniques rooted in Sri Lankan textile craft, collaborating with local artisans to translate traditional methods into zero-waste, contemporary garments and textiles. I'm always exploring new techniques and materials — looking for ways to bring creativity, craft, and sustainability together into designs that feel both novel and responsible.
Recognition
This research earned me a sustainable fashion award from the International Textile and Apparel Association (ITAA) in 2021, and continues to shape both my design practice and the courses I teach as a fashion studies instructor.
